Film & Digital Media, MFA
The MFA in Film and Digital Media is a 3-year, 57-hour degree program that focuses on training writer/directors.
In addition to making you into a filmmaking master, an MFA is a terminal degree, which qualifies you to get a tenure-track job at most major universities.
You may be able to complete your MFA at no cost to you. We offer 100% tuition scholarships as well as stipends in return for your work as a Teaching Assistant or Graduate Student Employee.
The MFA program is three years of near-constant filmmaking. You will be writing, directing, and learning film and storytelling theory from the start. Each semester you will take Graduate Directing Workshop, led by one of our Graduate Faculty filmmakers. Your first major project is the Summer Film Project, completed during your first Summer semester at Baylor. You’ll take classes in producing and preproduction as well as postproduction. You’ll have opportunities to customize your degree with electives like Lighting and Cinematography, and you’ll work together with your classmates on each other’s projects. Finally, you’ll finish strong by writing and directing your original Thesis Film complete with significant financial backing from FDM! You’ll do all this under the instruction of our faculty members in the unique Christian environment that Baylor University offers.
