Film & Digital Media’s Maverick Moore Named 2026–2027 Baylor Fellow

The Department of Film & Digital Media is proud to announce that Senior Lecturer and Film Festival Specialist Maverick Moore has been selected as a Baylor Fellow for the 2026–2027 academic year.

Sponsored by Baylor’s Academy for Teaching and Learning (ATL), the Baylor Fellows Program recognizes full-time faculty across the university who exemplify pedagogical innovation, inspirational teaching, and an ongoing commitment to transforming student learning. Fellows receive an award honoring Baylor’s founding year, and the title of “Baylor Fellow” for their appointment year.

This year’s cohort theme, established by the Office of the Provost, is Endurance in Education: Sustaining Excellence in a Season of Headwinds. As part of the fellowship, Moore will identify a course to serve as an “incubator” or “lab” classroom to test creative approaches to teaching, assess outcomes tied to the theme, and share insights with faculty colleagues across campus.

An award-winning filmmaker whose short films have garnered over 60 awards and screened at more than 175 festivals worldwide, Moore brings extensive industry experience into the classroom. Alongside his teaching in production and festival distribution, Moore serves as the department’s Film Festival Specialist—mentoring students and colleagues through the festival circuit—and as the lead short film programmer for the Waco Independent Film Festival. Most recently, his work editing and producing the short film ADO earned an Oscar shortlist nod in 2026.
